Frank Ostaseski was the founding director of Zen Hospice Project who introduced thousands to the practices of mindful and compassionate care of the dying.

His groundbreaking work has been featured in the Bill Moyers series On Our Own Terms, the PBS series With Eyes Open, the Oprah Winfrey Show, and numerous national publications.

At the end of 2003, Frank left our staff to continue his teaching and to guide the Institute on Dying forward as its own non-profit organization, originally the Alaya Institute, now the Metta Institute. At this new organization, Frank teaches the spiritual dimensions of living, dying, and transformation through professional trainings and educational programs, including the End-of-Life Counselor Program.

We thank Frank deeply for his years of commitment to the organization and wish him strength and guidance as he moves into a new manifestation of his work.
