My involvement with Zen Hospice began in 1998 as a volunteer caregiver, when I was seeking a way to study the Buddha’s teachings off the meditation cushion. The privilege of serving at the bedside and being supported by ZHP’s mindful community opened my heart to end-of-life care as my vocation.
In 2004, I came on staff to create curriculum, teach workshops, offer spiritual care, and provide community outreach – all of which keep me both busy and happy! |

Regarding my background, this is my second career (my first was in advertising after studying communications at Boston University). I am an Interfaith minister and a Buddhist chaplain. I also serve as adjunct faculty for the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies in Berkeley, CA and the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts and Interfaith Ministries in San Rafael, CA.
In the foreground of my life are passions for spirit, the arts, adventure travel, and a deep abiding love for dogs. Visits to our offices include a hearty welcome from Uma, the Boston Terrier who shares her life with me.
