Administration on Aging: U.S. Government clearinghouse with many key links and articles to web sites on areas of interest in aging. Contains information about state and local agencies, federal sites, metasites (sites with many links), and resources for the elderly.
Advance Directives: This web site provides downloadable advanced directives for all 50 states, with information about the applicable laws. "Advance Directive" is a general term that refers to your oral and written instructions about your future medical care in the event that you become unable to speak for yourself.
Americans for Better Care of the Dying is dedicated to ensuring that all Americans can count on good end-of-life care. Their goals are to build momentum for reform, explore new methods and systems for delivering care, and shape public policy through evidence-based understanding. Their web site proved news and resources about aging, hospice and palliative care, and health-care quality improvement.
Association for Death Education: A multi-disciplinary professional organization dedicated to promoting excellence in death education, bereavement counseling, and care of the dying.
Final Passages: Located in the San Francisco Bay Area, Final Passages is an organization dedicated to creating your own home- or family-run funeral. They provide packets of information about laws and restrictions to home funeral arrangements and preparation instructions, as well as community workshops and in-service trainings.
Last Acts Campaign to Improve End-of-Life Care: represents a national effort to raise awareness of the need to improve care of the dying and to share issues and ideas at the national, state and local levels. Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Last Acts provides breaking news in the field, a writers project, and numerous action-oriented avenues to raising public awareness and attaining the "gold-standard" of hospice care.
