IMPORTANT NOTE: Zen Hospice Project does not offer internships, supervised or otherwise, for graduate students, fellows, or professionals on sabbatical.

Zen Hospice Project is currently restructuring our scheduled education programs. Please contact us at 415-913-7682 to discuss setting up a customized workshop or presentation. Following is general information about our education programs.

Our workshops support individuals and family caregivers in finding ways of living more fully in the face of life-threatening or chronic illness, and the challenges of caring for others in a busy world.

Each comprehensive program draws from Zen Hospice Project’s 20 years of service and the learning and experiences of our volunteers, patients, and staff. We lead participants through educational experiences that combine lecture, group exercises, and personal reflection. Participants are encouraged to share knowledge, compare experiences, and reach a deeper understanding of both the specific subject and the territory of being with dying.

Over 15,000 people have attended our education programs.  Using innovative learning models, our education programs:

  • Re-orient people’s experience of death, dying and bereavement, towards opportunities for deep, life-changing transformation.
  • Train personal and professional bedside caregivers to provide skillful, mindful, and compassionate end-of-life care.
  • Cultivate awareness and teach situational presence.
  • Prevent burnout through exploration of mindfulness, boundaries, and self-care.
  • Teach participants ways to reduce stress and increase capacity.
