Our Education Center works closely with many different types of organizations to help them address end-of-life issues: some as clients looking to serve their employees or constituents, and some as collaborative partners. You can learn about some of these relationships below.
PARTNERS
The Bay Area Jewish Healing Center
The Bay Area Jewish Healing Center (BAJHC) provides Jewish spiritual care to those living with illness, those caring for the ill and to the bereaved. BAJHC runs a number of programs that support people through direct services, education, training, and providing referrals. BAJHC approached Zen Hospice Project in January 2004 to collaborate in creating their Kol Haneshama: Jewish End of Life Care Program modeled on our well-established Volunteer Caregiver Program, which they saw as an effective means of bringing spiritual practice to the bedside. We worked with BAJHC on the development, design, production and evaluation of their program and remain involved in the regular trainings.
Chinese American Coalition for
Compassionate Care
The Chinese American Coalition for Compassionate Care (CACCC) is an active working coalition of over 60 organizations devoted to end-of-life concerns in the Chinese community. The coalition’s focus is to help both Chinese and Chinese-American communities with end-of-life planning and care. We worked with CACCC to develop a ‘training for caregivers’ curriculum empowering Chinese immigrants and their families to become both advocates for and supporters of those dying. Six CACCC volunteers (including Executive Director, Sandy Chen Stokes) also attended our two-day intensive workshop on end-of-life care. In return, CACCC has presented informative lectures to our community of volunteers and supporters.
