WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

Death and loss are intertwined with life in all aspects. We understand the unique opportunity death and loss provide in helping human beings to become more fully alive, while fostering more empathetic care for one another.

In this nationally recognized 2-day workshop, participants are guided by Zen Hospice principles that build up the power of presence helpful to providing adept end of life care. Participants learn to access a new level of skill and authenticity in providing the kind of emotional and spiritual support required by people who are dying. Decreased fear, increased understanding, greater compassion and even hope in the face of death are the tangible results.

Through reflection and application of simple Buddhist teachings, this workshop teaches us how to access the innate compassion and wisdom that lie within us all. Participants leave these sessions empowered by practical methods for making marked changes, both large and small, in their personal lives and professional lives as well as surrounding communities.

People from all disciplines, cultures and spiritual traditions are welcomed to bring their wisdom as well as their curiosity to our contemplative care methods. Neither experience nor employment in health care is necessary for attending. Zen Hospice Project is internationally recognized for transforming the way our culture cares for the dying. To foster more effective approaches to end-of-life care, we happily share our unique model through this comprehensive workshop.
