Laguna Honda Hospital

ZHP has collaborated with the hospice ward of Laguna Honda for more than 20 years, creating this unique care program located within an institutional setting– the largest public long-term care facility in the United States. Our volunteer caregivers provide practical, emotional and spiritual support to men and women with cancer, AIDS, or other terminal illnesses; and Laguna Honda provides the multi-disciplinary medical and social components.

The Laguna Honda Hospice and Palliative Care Unit offers cost effective and comprehensive care to an estimated 150 people annually in a 25-bed open-ward hospice unit, and Zen Hospice manages the volunteer component. This site offers much-needed care to the medically underserved populations of San Francisco.
