Special Skills Volunteers

Special Skills Volunteers provide administrative help for our public education trainings or work with the Bloom Project at Laguna Honda Hospital.

The Special Skills Volunteer program is well-suited for people who have flexibility to make a designated time commitment to help us.

To become a Special Skills Volunteer, each person must complete an application. Once accepted, every special skills volunteer must complete our Foundations of Mindful Caregiving course, and participate in an orientation specific to the role they will play at the location they will work.

At the moment, we have a specific need for the following Special Skills Volunteer positions:

Administration/Education assistance: We are looking for individuals that can support clerical, basic computer entry, and organizational/filing skills.  We are looking for support to our Mindful Caregiver Education and Volunteer Caregiver Programs in person and online on the following days:

  • Tuesday- evening
  • Wednesday-evening 
  • Thursday- late morning or afternoon  
  • Friday- late morning or afternoon, or all day
  • Saturday-  all day
  • Sunday- all day

The Bloom Project: We are currently looking for volunteers to help arrange bouquets for Residents at Laguna Honda Hospital. No floral experience necessary, as training will be provided.

  • Mondays 10am-12pm. Flower trimmers/bouquet arranging.

Requirements of Participation:

Potential Special Skill Volunteers must commit to the following:


  • Six months of weekly service.

  • Availability to commit to a weekly shift or a completion of a particular project.
  • Complete the Foundations of Mindful Caregiving.  Scholarships can be applied to this process.
